As the rains came and inundated so much of the beautiful land around Gloucestershire, GDL was called in to help with the flood relief operation. Twelve tanker trailers were pressed into night and day action on behalf of Severn Trent Water, taking water to collection points in Tewkesbury, Gloucester and Cheltenham Racecourse where the precious liquid was either dispensed directly to the public or used to fill bowsers. Some brown fleet trailers were also used to deliver bottled water. It was a devastating time for so many people and GDL was very pleased to be able to contribute to the emergency response, once again demonstrating the adaptability and versatility of our operation. Tony Wray, Managing Director of Severn Trent Water wrote saying: “We are steadily recovering from what has clearly been the single biggest incident that our industry has faced following the unprecedented events leading to the loss of water supply in the Gloucestershire area. “The phenomenal mobilisation and recovery we have delivered is due in large part to the tremendous cooperation and collaboration from so many parties. The contribution from individuals, teams and organisations have been superb. “I would personally like to thank your organisation for support and aid throughout this challenging time. Many thanks to you from all our customers and from our team at Severn Trent.”
